On Tuesday the 25th of August 2015 the last consortium meeting of 3Gb-TEST was held in Leiden.
“3Gb-TEST; Introducing diagnostic applications of ‘3Gb-testing’ in human genetics”
On Monday August 24th a symposium was organised at the Leiden University Medical Center. This was be the final meeting for the 3Gb-TEST project, the project ends on August 31st 2015. The milestones which have been achieved in the project were high-lighted and there were presentations on e.g. Genome diagnostics, ethical and quality issues to consider and the future of whole genome sequencing. “From genetic testing to genome diagnostics; Quality, clinical utility and counselling issues”
On Friday the 5th of June, a meeting was organized at the ESHG in Glasgow by 3Gb-TEST, EuroGentest and ESHG. The title of the meeting was “From genetic testing to genome diagnostics; Quality, clinical utility and counselling issues”. Over 70 people joined for the interesting presentations and interactive workshops. The programme can be found here and the meeting report here.
“When Opportunity Knocks: Understanding the Ethical, Legal and Social aspects of clinical Whole Genome Sequencing”
A regional meeting of the 3Gb-TEST project will be held on May 4 at Salle Jacques Pous, Faculté de Medicine, 37 Allees Jules Guesde, Toulouse, France. The topic of the workshop will be the ethical, legal and philosophical issues relating to clinical Whole Genome Sequencing and the creation of guidelines in this field. The morning will consist of seminars given by clinicians, bioethicists, lawyers and philosophers. The afternoon will involve a round table discussion on some of the topics evoked during the morning seminars. The programme is available here as well as the Meeting Report.
A 4-day course on NGS in Prague was organized in collaboration with the “National coordination centre for rare diseases at University Hospital Motol” in the period of 20-23 April 2015. The focus of the course was on clinical diagnostics using exome/genome sequences, variant identification and analysis including afternoon practicals (practicals are fully booked). The programme is available here. There were 146 registrations and the practicals were fully booked (32).
